The indie Christmas gift guide

Updated: Oct 30, 2020

I can't be the only one who's started their Christmas shopping already?! Money feels extra tight this year after reduced wedding numbers and bookings and so I've started early... keen to snap up bargains while still shopping and supporting indies through this difficult time. After all... What's Christmas about if not sharing good will and cheer 🤩

Here you have a host of goodies from Nottingham indie brands and beyond!

I've divided the gifts into sections for ease... so you can skip to the section/s that resonate with you most.

I am not affiliated with any makers of the gifts/ experiences mentioned {aside of course, from my own products) - I just love to support small. Let's make this Christmas one to remember 💖

Gifts for couples, mate dates + beyond

Terrazzo casting workshops

If you're wanting to gift something special to a couple you love - you can't go wrong with an experience. Olivia Aspinall runs a range of terrazzo workshops from her studio in Sneinton Market, Nottingham.

Spoil your favourite couple, or get in touch with Olivia to organise a voucher to put towards a workshop. Not only will they get to spend a lovely afternoon or evening together getting creative, but they'll come away with their own terrazzo keepsakes of the beaut date to take pride of place in their home.

DIY Christmas wreaths

This time last year me and Charlotte from Frond & Bloom were gearing up to launch the ultimate Christmas workshop ✨ 3 hours of Christmas joy with a Christmas themed hand lettering workshop + DIY wreath making. We had so much fun - and knew straight away that it would become a staple in our calendar for years to come.

Unfortunately because of Covid restrictions it’s just not possible this year. We’re both gutted - but know it’s for the best. ✨ that being said, this year Charlotte is launching DIY Christmas wreath kits - the perfect activity to do from the comfort of your own home (I can't wait to get mine, whack Love Actually on in the background + hopefully have some Baileys if baby Wilson arrives on time 😇).

Head to the Frond & Bloom Instagram for updates. Numbers will be limited and you don't want to miss out!

The Christmas Eve box by Fig and Ginger

Amie from Fig and Ginger is the queen of grazing boxes! I recently discovered them at a friend's birthday party. Unfortunately because I'm preggers I couldn't have all of the contents... but I've been day dreaming about how good it's going to be to smash one once the baby is here and I am re-united with cured meats and aaaaall the cheese 🤤.

She recently launched the Christmas Eve box which I think would make the dreamiest gift for grandparents or a couple you love (Maybe mum and dad or whoever is cooking the Christmas spread). Likewise... these would be lovely for someone who's spending Christmas alone. You can also gift other boxes for other occasions. See the full range here.

Gifts for someone special

Surprise someone you love with an extra thoughtful indie gift or experience 💝

Greetings cards and stocking fillers from Handmade Nottingham

Rhea is an indie powerhouse and has been on the Nottingham scene forever sharing and supporting indie makers. Her shop on Kings walk Nottingham is my fave indie shop in Nottingham because of it's curated stock that's perfect for gifting. From sweary cards to cute prints and mugs - you can find something for anyone. If you're not local to Nottingham, she recently launched the Handmade online store so you can shop from anywhere in the UK!

Some goodies from Studio Chocolate

Chocolate has never been so instagrammable! How delicious do these treats look. You can shop online for these delicately crafted artisan chocolates and treats here.

A gift voucher or make up lesson with Ruby J Beauty

For the make up lover in your life... or perhaps a friend who is getting married soon - Why not treat them to a make up voucher or experience from Ruby J? Ruby is Nottinghamshire based but travels for weddings and events. Each year me and my bestie invest in an experience rather than buying presents and did a joint make up lesson last year - we both absolutely loved it. You can skip through my Insta highlights to see how much I was feeling myself after the second look (a looooot!! 💚).

Ruby is now a dear friend (she'll massively take the piss out of me for saying that but I'm being nice 😜). The morning was so much fun and I'd massively recommend. It would also make for a really cute activity on a hen/ stag (especially with fizz involved!)

A cute print from OHVERLEE

I love Ruthie so much and it was such a pleasure to meet her at a Bauble making workshop a couple of years ago (Can't believe so much time has passed it feels like a minute)! Ohverlee (formerly Cawligraphy) specialises in feel good prints, which let's face it, a lot of people would appreciate after this year🙋🏻. You can shop the full range here.

Some statement jewellery from K Fines

K Fines are the queens of cool af statement pieces and are one of Nottingham's most loved indie brands. Plus, you can bag an extra 10% off when you subscribe to their mailing list. Find their full range here.

A nail date with Dorta

If you follow me on Insta you'll know nail day is my fave day and I always rave about the Nottingham nail queen Dorta. I've been going to Bethan for nails and brows now for over 2 years and I love her. She did my wedding nails which I loved and I always have so much fun seeing what inspo she puts on her stories. It really is art for nails.

You can enquire to book someone in or enquire about gift vouchers too via Dorta's instagram.

A DIY calligraphy kit from wild

The ideal gift for someone who wants to create their own wedding stationery and signage or just start a new hobby 👌.I launched the Hand lettering kit at the start of lockdown and have since adapted the Nib + ink and Intermediate workshop workbooks to be Home Calligraphy Club ready, too.

You can explore the 4 different kits that I offer here. Each kit comes complete with all the tools you need to get started in that particular skill, plus access to online tutorials to accompany the activities which the lucky recipient can work through at their own pace.

Calligraphy is one of the best things to have ever happened to me. I can't tell you how much I love getting into the zen zone and I'm so blessed that I get to bring together my two loves: teaching and calligraphy, via these workbooks and wild workshops. You can have a look at reviews and behind the scenes (including how the kits are packaged) over on the Wild Instagram 😍,

Delicate homewares from Every Story

Every Story is based in Belvoir and handmake the dreamiest ceramics including crockery, Christmas decorations and more. I recently used ES ceramics on a wedding shoot and couldn't believe the quality and delicious textures. For the homeware lover in your life, these items would make a lovely personal gift.

A dried hoop by The Lanes

I've worked in weddings now for almost 3 years and countless brides of mine have had flowers from The Lanes for their big day. I'm always so impressed with how creative Hannah is and I'm so excited about her latest product launch: Dried floral hoops. These would be a lovely thoughtful gift for the dried blooms lover in your life (basically anyone you know right?!).

The self-care box by Koti

I've actually asked for this for Christmas and I'm so excited! Each Koti box is curated full of eco friendly goodies. There are several types which you can check out and purchase here. Koti is a really cute Nottingham family business and I think they are smashing it out of the park with these products - making it that bit easier to build sustainability into the every day.

Calligraphy goodies from The Calligraphy Store.

I buy most of my calligraphy supplies for workshops from Lauren to support small as much as possible. For the calligraphy lover in your life... there are heaps of resources and tools.

Candles from Foam Home

To me, Christmas is all about splurging on the items you wouldn't normally justify... and it doesn't get much more indulgent than these beautiful candles by Foam Home. The bubble candles sell out mega quick so keep an eye out from now if you wanna bag one in time for Santa!

Statement jewellery from Lilley Studio

Perfect for your bride tribe if you're popping the question to them over Christmas or lovely gifts for someone special... Lilley Studio has a range of stunning jewellery and recently launched an extensive gifting service (i.e. whether it's a will you be my bridesmaid presi, a thank you... or a general gift - she's got you covered!)

Something hand sewn for your best babe If you aren't already -I'd massively recommend following Emma from Beau Tie for her Insta stories alone (Very jealous of how many takeaways she has NGL). Not only has Emma recently launched Scrunchies which have been going oooooooff - she also offers a range of handmade items for the boys, too! (and doggies 🥰). I've got my eye on the cat scrunchie for myself and a few other bits, too!

For mommas, papas + little ones

Extra soft blankets from Isla & Fraser

The perfect gift for someone who is expecting or has just had a little one... these blankets look so insanely soft and come in a range of colours.

The gift of memories: photography vouchers

If Covid has taught us anything it's the importance of family and spending time with those we love.

I'm always sentimental anyway - but over Covid as I've progressed through my pregnancy I've loved watching Millie from Oh Baby Photography's stories and posts more and more. Her photography style is so intimate and warm and she captures not just the momma's to be looking stunning but natural family moments, too.

Millie offers studio packages from her base in Southwell and also shoots on location for those of you wanting to get outside. You can see her packages here.

I have already booked in a newborn shoot with my all time fave: Rosie Kelly Photography and would also love to recommend Caroline Goosey Photography who has photographed several of my creative mates with their bambinos. All 3 of these photographers are different takes on "light and moody" which lends itself to newborn and family photography so well. 💖

Nursery décor

I fell into a nursery décor hole last week and loved every second. There's nothing like an indie print or item to bring your décor to life and showing off the personality of your little one. I was keen to have a unisex nautical theme (as inspired by the insanely talented Olivia Edwards Silk from Lust Living) and wanted to share some of the beauts I've found so far:

Anything from Big Stuffed

Big Stuffed is a Paris based indie specialising in extra large plush toys. It's a luxury item - so might be something that you gift yourself... or ask family to put towards... but MY GOD are the items cute. I'm currently saving up for a giant starfish that I definitely don't need but can't stop thinking about 🤣 All items are handmade, too! So unique to your little one.

Unique prints

I love typography but I am really fussy! I have scrawled for hours to find ones that I love and have purchased from the following businesses so far:

Little M Paper Goods

Claire from Little M Paper Goods specialises in hand lettered prints and personalised illustrations. You can also shop fabric banners and framed prints from her online store. It was really hard to pick one but I settled on the "of all the things my hands have held" quote plus a personalised dinosaur print for my nephew. I can't wait for them to arrive!

Ivy Oak Design

This was the first print I bought for the

nursery and it's still my fave. Perfect for the theme and love that it has the ABC too. The colour is delicious and really pops against Baby Wilson's white nursery! Jasmin is a local supplier who launched Ivy Oak following the (close together) births of her two children and I am in awe of her creativity and work ethic. She also recently launched a bauble collection perfect for those wanting to add prints and colour to their Christmas décor.

Decals from The Little White Walls

I am yet to decide on the perfect decals but I've spotted a few I like for Baby Wilson and for my lovely nephew... Such a huge range for little ones. Love that it's less of a commitment compared to doing a feature wall or decorating the whole nursery a set colour. I also love the idea of changing the decals once BW starts to get a personality. These would be a lovely gift for someone who has just had a little one.

Baby's first Christmas

This year's Wild baubles are now LIVE ♥️ and the perfect way to immortalise baby's first Christmas or get cute baubs for each member of the family.

You can choose from a range of suedette tag colours, with or without illustrations and personalise with up to 3 words ✨ the perfect stocking filler, milestone reminder or extra special place names for intimate weddings + Christmas feasts 🔥

You can shop Wild Baubles here.

Anything from The Cotton Shop

I can't pick a fave octopus colour from the dreamy range Amy creates - I want them all! (For the baby... of course🤣) Each month on the first she launches a new wave of stock (and each month lots of people - myself included aren't quick enough and miss out)! These babies are like gold dust.

You can keep up to date with behind the scenes from the Cotton Shop on Instagram or head to the Cotton Shop website for the full range. See you on the first 😉.

The cutest garms from Tiny Human Store

I am so fussy with baby clothes - which has proved interesting when trying to complete BW's wardrobe with only second hand clothes... Anything with a character or quote on is a big no from me. I'd describe my baby style as "plain, like mini adults clothes" - So I'm so happy to have discovered the Tiny Human Store - and I'm so pleased to be sharing them for likeminded parents and carers. Honestly can't cope with how cute they are!

Name blocks from Little Berry Button

These are SO cute and the perfect gift for the eco-conscious family wanting to have less plastic in the house. Shop the full range here.

Cute af wooden rattles from the Neutral Baby Co

On the theme of eco-friendlier children's items... I love these Bunny ear teethers from the Neutral Baby Co.

Shop here.

I'll continue to update this as and when I discover new indies in the run up to Christmas. I've had so much fun putting this together but now I want to buy everything. 😈

Please do support small where you can - it makes the world of difference to indie makers and has never been so important. Without your support, many makers unfortunately won't make it through the pandemic which is such a huge shame.

Do tag me in your faves + purchases I'd love to see any purchases I inspire 🤩.

Lots of love,

Faye - Wild
